Summer Fun at Home

When kiddos are home for the summer, it is fun and games, but it can easily get boring. Here are some fun, inexpensive ideas to keep your kiddos engaged and learning while still having loads of fun!

Water Sensory play

Water play is fun and engaging for all ages. You can have a theme or simply add some spoons and cups to a big water bucket. Some benefits of water play are eye-hand coordination. By squeezing, squishing, and splashing, your child is practicing those fine motor skills. Water play is both relaxing and fun!

Supplies

  • Water

  • Bucket

  • Toys

  • bubbles

Some theme ideas:

  1. Mermaid play- grab some dolls and pretend play mermaids, add some bubbles and seashells for extra fun

  2. Car wash play- get some cars, sponges, soap, and towels to create some car wash fun

  3. Baby Doll bath- baby dolls, soap, and sponges to pretend to give your baby doll a bath.

  4. Water beads play- add some orbeez or water beads to a bucket of water for some fun and colorful sensory play.

  5. Pasta Fishing- Pasta, spoons, and water. Have your children fish for some pasta in a big bowl of water. Have them count how many they can fish for some math learning.

  4. Set up an area with paper (watercolor paper works best) and a tray that can catch the melting ice cubes.

It’s easy , fun and inexpensive. Your kiddos are sure to love this great idea for indoor days.

  • Drinks

  • Paper and some colors to make your movie tickets

  1. Create Movie Tickets- Hand out paper, markers, and crayons so kids can design their movie tickets. You can even include the movie title and showtime!

  3. Make Popcorn & Drinks-  Set up a “concession stand” on a small table where kids can come up with their ticket to pick up snacks and drinks.

  4. Dim the Lights-  Close the curtains and turn off the lights for a real theater feel. If you have string lights or battery candles, turn them on for cozy vibes.
